Florida braces for Tropical Storm Alberto...
Tropical storm Alberto, the first named storm of the 2006 Hurricane season, continues northeastward with no change in strength.A hurricane warning remains in effect for the Gulf Coast of Florida from Longboat Key to the Ochlockonee River. A tropical storm warning along the Atlantic Coast has been extended northward to South Santee River, S.C.
The good news is that the storm is not likely to become a hurricane. I know this will be welcome news for my cousins who live in Longboat Key and Bradenton.
Alberto is moving toward the northeast near 9 mph and is expected to make landfall near midday today.
